Monday Confessions, Thanksgiving Style

If you are in the United States this week, you can't miss that it's Thanksgiving. I have been seeing and hearing posts all over about things to be thankful for or ways to have gratitude. I think that this is a beautiful thing in a world where we take so much for granted, to stop and think about what things we have gratitude for. I have a few things right now that I am praying through and when I am not careful, I can get anxious. I forget all the ways that God has already been so faithful! I also forget that he tells us not to be anxious, but to be prayerful and grateful!

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4: 6 -7.

So the directive here is not to turn to anxiety or worry, but to pray. We are to not just pray with a pleading heart, but also pray with a THANKFUL heart. When we obediently do these things, even in challenging times, we will then experience that peace of Christ that Paul writes about in his letter to the Philippians. I am trying to be obedient in these commands today, will you join me? Join me in praying through those difficult things and waiting for God to make himself evident! Here's to a wonderful Thanksgiving!
