Summer Photography, Better Late than Never!

I was busy with family life this summer, as well as a few photography opportunities that I enjoyed. It still feels hot and sticky like summer today but the calendar tells me that we are quickly heading towards fall. Although I usually adore fall, this last few weeks has been extremely personally challenging. Whenever I find myself struggling in one way or another, I often find my spirits lifted in a creative pursuit like a photography project. The sunflower field was a bright spot this summer admist the struggles I have faced. Enjoy this sweet session of a college senior that graduated last year, but like everything else, celebrating was delayed due to the Covid pandemic. Here’s to the “better late than never” philosophy!

I know, I have been missing from my blog and please accept my sincerest apologies. There’s really no excuse other than I can’t possibly fit more things into my days right now and blogging has fallen off the list. The good news is that I am still photographing sessions! I just have been lacking in posting things. So here’s to a gorgeous high school senior that I have know since she was a fourth grader! She has babysat our kids and been generally an amazing young woman to know and love. I can’t wait to see where college takes her but we will MISS HER dearly when she goes! Congrats to Quinn, and the class of 2021!

Senior Photos, Middletown, DE

As summer winds down and thankfully starts to cool off some, it gets us all thinking of fall. If you know or have a student heading into his or her senior year of high school, I am offering late summer and fall photo sessions for seniors. I know many schools offer options but this is a bit more personalized. I had the chance to photograph my sweet younger cousin this past week as she gets ready to head off to her senior year at her school overseas! We had to outrun a wicked thunder and lightning storm so we had to work quickly! She is as kindhearted as she is beautiful and I know she’s going to do great things out in the world!

Fall Senior Session, Wilmington, DE

Fall of senior year is a super exciting time with college applications, football games and that slight taste of freedom coming with college ahead. Hannah is a sweet spirit with an artistic side and she's exploring her options for art programs in college. I have had the privilege of photographing her family over the last few years and this year it was her turn for a special session! Here's to the class of 2018!

Abby & Rachel: cousins, seniors and besties!

I remember back to the autumns of high school and think of chunky sweaters, chilly soccer games and chocolatey hot chocolate! It was such a fun season of life (most of the time ;) and I remember a lot of it fondly. As a senior, I remember that feeling of both being on the front edge of adulthood but also this sense that all of life is still ahead of you. I also remember the stress of school work and wondering where I would end up for college. Do you remember those days?

I got two catch up with two sweet senior girls last weekend to capture this time in their lives. Their personalities were just as lovely as their faces! These girls are not just cousins but very dear friends to one another. When I got asked if I would consider shooting a double senior session, I thought, why not?! What I didn't realize is that it would be an absolute great fit both for these girls and a fun experience for me! Each girl helped the other to bring out her own personality during the shoot. I wish them all the best as they plan for the future!

Today is Part 1: Abby

Senior Session

I remember the time of being a senior in high school as a season of possibility! It's a time when most of life still lies ahead of you and all the possibilities are very exciting. While I was working on these images I did find myself saying, "oh to be seventeen again!" I had the privilege this week of photographing a lovely senior girl who I know it going places! We chatted about everything from the colleges she's looking at to the kids she babysits. I know she has a wonderful, bright future ahead and I was honored to photograph her! All the best to you Kierstin!
